Ellephant Gallery (Montreal) brings two artists to London to represent Canada at this major art fair.
Ghanian-Canadian, Ekow Nimako, known for his intricate sculptures created exclusively from black LEGO® elements, presents four masks and a new large-scale freestanding figurative sculpture. Combining West African cultural history with science fiction and interstellar forms, Nimako transforms these references into a distinct visual language of shape, volume, and structure.
Multidisciplinary artist Stanley Wany revisits colonial and historical archives to explore the experiences and histories of Afro-descendant communities. Wany will premiere two large-scale mixed-media drawings that incorporate materials such as coffee, charcoal, and cotton and that explore the historical and symbolic weight of the substances from which they are created.
