The UK premiere of The Fortress, by Turner Prize and Jarman Award nominee, Sin Wai Kin, is their first solo institutional presentation in the UK.
Blending cinematic illusion and performance, The Fortress interrogates the ways identity, power, and history are performatively constructed. Rooted in Eastern philosophies, particularly Sufi thought, the film explores selfhood as fluid and unfixed, dissolving binaries between real and imagined, self and world.
The Fortress is a highlight of this year’s Artists’ Film international, Dream States, presenting films by sixteen international artists, which explore dreaming as both a transformative state and a radical act, challenging perceptions of reality and opening pathways to alternative futures.
Presented by Southwark Park Galleries (SPG), in collaboration with Forma.
